Roger Soubie (1898-1984), biography

After beginning his artistic carrer with publicity posters and magazine covers, Roger Soubie became the favourite French movie poster artist for American Majors. Therefore, Roger Soubie has created more than 2000 film posters during his long carrer from 1930's to 1960's. Among them, some famous movies : Stanley Kubrick's Lolita, Sunset Boulevard (Billy Wilder, 1950), Ben Hur (William Wyler, 1959), The Ten Commandments (Cecil B. DeMille, 1956), The War of the Worlds (1953), Forbidden Planet (1956), The Rope (Alfred Hitchcock 1948), Gone with the Wind (1939).
